Welcome to Homeschooling Third Grade Social Studies! My goal is to guide you step-by-step through the process of learning to use the high-quality, free history and geography curriculum from Core Knowledge to homeschool your student.
What Will Your Student Learn in Third Grade? Your student will be improving their understanding of geographical concepts including using map features such as keys and legends, calculating distances using a bar scale, and using an atlas. They’ll spend time learning about the country of Canada as well as important world rivers and why they are so valuable to the citizens living near them. In world history they’ll learn about the ancient Roman civilization and the Vikings. In U.S. history, they’ll learn about the cultures of the earliest Americans, early European exploration of North America, and the original thirteen colonies.
