Welcome to Homeschooling Kindergarten Social Studies! My goal is to guide you step-by-step through the process of learning to use the high-quality, free history and geography curriculum from Core Knowledge to homeschool your student.
What Will Your Student Learn in Kindergarten? Your student will learn about how maps and globes work, the locations of major oceans and the continents. They’ll also study U.S. history including Native American people past and present, early European explorations and settlement, and key figures in U.S. history including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt. In addition, they will become familiar with the American flag, Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, and The White House. These concepts lay the groundwork for later grades where they will dive deeper into geography as well as both world history and U.S. history.
