Important Notes
This supply list covers the supplies most commonly used in the Core Knowledge units and the MEP Math curriculum. It is recommended you gather these supplies in advance and keep them nearby.
Less-common supplies are not included in this list. Please see the unit-specific checklists for that information.
This list does not include the CK Science demonstration/experiment materials. A comprehensive list of needed materials can be found in the introduction section of each CK Science unit Teacher’s Guide.
MEP Math is a European math curriculum and should be printed on size A4 paper (this is different from the 8.5”x11” paper that is standard in the United States). If you’d prefer to print the math worksheets on 8.5”x11” paper, you will need to select the fit to paper size option in your printer setting. Please note, if you do this, the pages will look a little funny and any measurement activities won’t match up with the answer key.
The math program includes both lesson plans (teacher’s manual) and a workbook. You can choose to print the lesson plans or use them as a PDF file open on your device. You will need to print the workbook. The printed teacher’s guide and workbook can be 3-hole punched and each placed in a binder or you can take the pages to your local office supply store to have them spiral bound. Please note A4 size binders work on a two-hole punch system.
It is recommended that the flash card files be printed on cardstock. Flash cards are typically only used in Kindergarten and First Grade.
MEP Math is a European math curriculum so it teaches the metric system and European currency symbols. You will need to have a ruler (or rulers) on hand so your student can learn to measure in both the metric and the Imperial (U.S.) systems. You may also want to have some play U.S. money on hand to practice with (Second Grade).
